We each hold a dear portion of Christi in our hearts. It is beautiful to see and know her more fully with the addition of each story... so chime in! We're ready to laugh with you, to cry with you, to be with you.
Oh, thank you Ana. I love to think of all her adventures! Thank you for passing along the prayer as well. It's a wonderful tribute for both of them. Thank you for being a part of our lives. You and your family have been such an inspiration to us, too. Your devotion to each other and to your faith is so beautiful to see lived out, multiple generations deep.
Chris is weaved throughout the memories of my life in Sacramento and beyond. It is hard to pick out one story to share when I feel like she inspired so much of who I wanted to be. She inspired me, challenged me in so many big and little ways. I know it’s true for each of my girls too. She embodied womanhood; in all of its grace and courage! I was in awe of her spirit. The way she would throw her kayak on top of the car and take Kevin to the river. The countless hikes she guided and the wisdom she dispensed along the way. Our lives are forever richer because she was in it. I always remember being on the sidelines at the soccer games, our conversations would always turn to God. We had a special connection that way. She was an integral part of my husband Andy’s journey With cancer. She was the one who wrote the emails to let the community know what to pray for during his battle. At the end, she was the one to write the prayer on the back of his memorial card. These words brought us comfort, may they bring comfort to you now. She wrote these words out of her deep faith. How true they must be for her passing into Heaven as well . . . “The heavens have opened their arms to embrace Christi Heintz. Blessed Mother, welcome her and protect her family.”
I love this story, thanks so much for sharing. My mom always had something to talk about. I never stopped learning from her, especially when it came to nature.
Cee Cee and I hiked many times with Chris over the last eight years with the GVR hiking club. Usually she was the sweep (last in line). Invariably, no matter how great the hike, the last few miles back to the cars became tedious. So, I would inch back in line so that I could talk to Chris. It never failed that the time passed so easily when chatting with her. You all know how easy it was to be comfortable with Chris. She was magic.
Love these pictures and love to see how she touched your life.

I am so grateful for being Chris' friend, if only for a relatively short time. She is responsible for getting me back into backpacking after a 45 year break!! Always the organizer, Chris made sure dreams were accomplished, not just talked about!
I'm so sorry for your sudden loss. Christi always made us feel at home and welcome during St. Francis High School years. My prayers are with you all in this difficult time.
