It is with regret that I will miss the celebration of Christi's life in a few days in Arizona, as I truly treasured our friendship and time together. It has been almost three months since she left us, but she is in my heart always and in my thoughts often. My deep sympathy continues to be with all of her family, and with those of you who deeply feel the loss of this amazing woman.
Christi has held a special place in my heart since high school in Sacramento, when we became close friends. As life went on, our common passion for backpacking and skiing encouraged us to share some wonderful times in nature together. She was the most knowledgeable companion imaginable on a Grand Canyon backpack trip, and a competent and enjoyable skiing companion at Lake Tahoe, where I live. I feel very fortunate to have joined one last backpacking trip in the Southern Sierra Nevada with Christi last fall. In late April I sent her an email stating, "I have such great memories of trips on the trail with you over the years and hope we can put something together again soon." It is not to be.
A visit to Green Valley gave me insight into how closely Christi and Mike have knit their family of adult children and wonderful grandchildren together. I know that all of you have an incredible array of wonderful memories that will keep Christi in your hearts always. She will always be a part of who you are.
Christi seemed so content with her life... the wonderful life that she created, always making the most of it!
Laurie Vaughn! Thank you! Nancy Landen...
@Laurie Buffington thank you for the memories and photos. She really enjoyed her backpacking and skiing friends! We're thankful for her passion for life and those she shared it with. We will have to update this website to make it clear, but due to the pandemic we have again delayed the celebration. It will be held on September 26th in Green Valley, AZ. Thank you again for sharing
